Chinese-American Sunshine House

Established in 2011, Chinese American Sunshine House(CSH) is a non-profit organization that provides a culturally-sensitive environment for the Brooklyn Chinese community by empowering those battling with mental illness through their personal recovery and educating the community about mental health. Its mission is to provide an environment which promotes education of mental illness to combat stigmas and to improve accessibility to available treatment.

The focus of the organization is placed on normalizing the emotional state of clients and families, while providing education through workshops and training, and linkages to additional resources within the borough of Brooklyn. We have 3 main programs, onsite workshops series, Alternative to Incarceration Programs(AIPs) & offsite workshops program. All classes are held in Mandarin Chinese only.

Our FREE on-site educational workshop program, which includes mental health workshops, parenting classes and ESL classes, is to help Chinese immigrant families to adjust and adapt to the new culture in the United States. Please Join our 8 Weekly Parenting Classes to increase your parenting knowledge and learn how to use effective communication skills to build a positive relationship with your children. CSH is currently signing up students for our Fall 2019: Parenting Workshop Series. First Day of Class begins October 23, 2019 every Wednesdays from 12:15-1:15 PM.

Stay tuned for our next series of 10 Weekly Mental Health Workshops & We Are New York Classes. These classes are for immigrants who want to improve their mental health education and well-being as well as increase their conversational English skills while learning about NYC services. First Day of Mental Health Workshops and We Speak New York Classes begin October 11, 2019 on Friday Mornings.
