The “Depression Among All Ages: Part 1-Child-Adolescent Depression Awareness and Prevention Community Event”, was held on Saturday, October 27th, 2018 at 6304 5th Avenue, in Brooklyn, NY 11220. Our CSH Chairperson, Dr. Xu Z. Chen, along with Hui-Ling Hsu, LCSW, and Zhen-Ming Tian, LMSW educated our Chinese immigrant community about the issues revolving around child/adolescent depression.
They explained how to diagnose child-adolescent depression at the early stage, how to prevent child-adolescent depression, Internet addiction, school truancy (dropouts), sexual abuse and the difference between child-adolescent depression and adult depression. The subtopics are related to current news that has happened recently in the Chinese community. We provided giveaways, refreshments and a depression assessment along with critical information to help the parents learn about this illness and how it is affecting the Chinese community.
